On September 10th, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources released the survey results of Wisconsin firefighters’ use of firefighting foams contains PFAS, otherwise known as or per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances.

Ten environmental groups, including Clean Wisconsin and Midwest Environmental Advocates, submitted a letter to the Natural Resources Board requesting them to approve DNR’s emergency rule concerning PFAS contamination “without changes at the September 22nd meeting.”

“This time, instead of DNR presentations, this meeting will be an opportunity for stakeholders to present.”

On August 12, the Department of Natural Resources’ policy board unanimously decided to table proposed restrictions on PFAS after receiving push back from the regulated community and the Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules (JCRAR) about the scope of DNR’s authority.
