WMC Litigation Center Files Brief Challenging City’s Restrictive Sign Ordinance

First Amendment, free speech

On June 30, the WMC Litigation Center filed its main brief in its lawsuit challenging the City of Neenah’s restrictive sign ordinance. The WMC Litigation Center filed this lawsuit in April on behalf of four Neenah residents and taxpayers to challenge Neenah’s sign ordinance on First Amendment free speech grounds. Neenah’s sign ordinance greatly limits the ability of residents and businesses to express their views through signs, including near-bans on commercial advertising on vehicles and yard signs. The Winnebago County Circuit Court will hold a decision hearing in this case on August 24.
