In Person Voting Today, Absentee Ballots Due As Well

Two separate lawsuits going all the way up to the Wisconsin Supreme Court and United States Supreme Court respectively over the last few days have made it official: the Spring primary election will go forward on April 7 with no extensions for absentee votes.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled in a 4-2 decision (Justice Kelly abstaining) that Governor Tony Evers could not move the election day via executive order.

Meanwhile, the United States Supreme Court blocked an order that would have extended absentee voting by another six days.

Both orders cited health concerns stemming from COVID-19. A full opinion from the Wisconsin Supreme Court is expected to follow.

Ballots will be counted tonight once the polls close.
