Over a year after the Wisconsin Legislature first filed an original action against Wisconsin Attorney General Kaul for violating 2017 Wis. Act 369, the Wisconsin Supreme Court finally ruled: it won’t hear the case.

Following the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, President Donald Trump announced Monday that he had narrowed his pick to replace her on the Supreme Court to 5 names, vowing to appoint a woman and further adding that he would announce his choice on Friday or Saturday following RBG’s funeral.

In a published decision released Wednesday, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals (District II) awarded attorneys fees to the Friends of Frame Park because their lawsuit over an open records request played a “substantial factor” in the release of the records.

The Wisconsin Court of Appeals (District I) ruled Tuesday that the the Friends of the Black River Forest alleged sufficient facts to satisfy a standing inquiry and that the Department of Natural Resources Board approval of a land exchange was a “decision” subject to judicial review under ch. 227

As policies surrounding COVID-19 prevention continue full force, it looks like the Wisconsin Supreme Court will hear two more lawsuits challenging the authority of government officials: one touching on the governor’s powers, the other the authority of a county health department.
