MacIver Institute Sues Gov. Evers for Equal Access, Free Speech Violation

Court Watch, Evers Administration, free speech, lawsuit, MacIver Institute, Tony Evers

On August 6, the MacIver Institute filed suit against Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers. The complaint alleged the Evers Administration violated MacIver’s free speech, freedom of the press, equal access, and equal protection rights when it excluded MacIver from press briefings and press material.

The exclusion did not apply across the board, but seemingly targeted the conservative news organization. More left-leaning groups, including the The Progressive magazine and the Democrat Party of Wisconsin, did not face similar access hurdles.

The case is currently before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.
